Industrial hydraulics and pneumatics — diagnostics, repair and full system installs.
Hydraulic power packs, actuators, valves and hose work — plus pneumatic circuits, compressed air distribution and cylinder repair, for industrial and manufacturing sites.
What we do
The service in plain English.
Hydraulic and pneumatic systems are the muscle behind most industrial machinery — presses, injection moulders, hydraulic doors, conveyor tensioners, packaging machines, actuator-driven process valves, and the compressed-air services that run half the tools on a typical factory floor. Lutrom supports these systems across their whole life-cycle: fault-finding when a symptom appears, targeted repair when a component fails, and full new-build system design for bespoke machinery and refits. Our engineers hold the mechanical, hydraulic and controls disciplines needed to trace a symptom back to its root cause — pressure drop can look like a pump problem when it's actually a stuck valve; a slow actuator can look like an actuator problem when it's actually a contaminated pilot line. Because we also hold electrical and PLC in-house, we can chase problems that cross the boundary between the fluid-power system and its control system — which is where the trickiest faults usually live. On new-build work we design power packs and pneumatic circuits from spec, size components properly, and hand over a documented system with schematics, component lists and a spares recommendation.
What's included
Every job covers the following.
- Hydraulic fault diagnosis — pressure testing, flow testing, contamination sampling
- Pneumatic circuit diagnosis — pressure decay, valve response, air quality assessment
- Cylinder repair — seal replacement, rod polish, honing, retest
- Valve block servicing — DCVs, PRVs, flow controls, cartridge valves
- Power pack design and build — sized to spec, control valves and manifold blocks
- Hose fabrication and replacement — SAE and DIN fittings, on-site or workshop
- Compressed air distribution — pipework, filtration, dryers, drop-legs, isolation
- Actuator installation — pneumatic and hydraulic, integrated with existing control systems
- System documentation — hydraulic and pneumatic circuit diagrams, component schedules, spares list

Our approach
Survey. Quote. Deliver. Sign off.
01
Symptom to diagnosis
We start with the symptom on the machine and work backwards. Pressure gauges, flow meters, thermometers and a copy of the OEM schematic go on before anything gets stripped.
02
Written scope
Once the fault is located you get a written scope and a fixed-price repair quote — or, for new-build work, a designed system with sized components and a fixed-price build quote.
03
Repair or install
Repairs done on-site or in-workshop depending on the component. New installs done to your production window, with proper isolation, flushing and start-up procedure.
04
Prove & document
Every repair or install is pressure-tested, flow-tested and function-tested before hand-over. You get the documentation — schematic, component list, spares recommendation — as part of the sign-off.
How we price this work
No surprise invoices.
Fault-finding is priced with an initial diagnostic visit at our standard hourly rate; if the fix is straightforward we complete it on the same visit. Larger repairs (cylinder overhaul, power-pack replacement) are quoted fixed-price after diagnosis. New-build hydraulic and pneumatic systems are quoted fixed-price against a designed circuit. Every quote itemises parts, labour and any allowances for isolation, flushing or oil disposal so the number in the header is the number on the invoice.
Coverage
Where we deliver this service.
We deliver industrial hydraulics and pneumatics — diagnostics across the North West of England — from our Northwich base. Same-day dispatch for callouts and scheduled visits for planned work.
Service FAQ
What clients ask before they call.
Can you fault-find without stripping the whole system?
Almost always, yes. Modern diagnostic kit — pressure sensors, flow meters, portable data loggers — lets us locate a fault to a component in most cases without opening anything. Stripping is a last resort, not a first move.
Do you refurbish hydraulic cylinders?
Yes — cylinder overhaul (seals, rod polish, honing, function test) is done in our workshop. If the cylinder body or rod is damaged beyond economic repair we'll say so plainly and quote a replacement.
Can you design a new hydraulic system for a bespoke machine?
Yes. Circuit design, component sizing (pump, motor, reservoir, valves, hoses), manifold specification and control integration are all done in-house. On bespoke machinery projects the hydraulics/pneumatics are designed alongside the mechanical and controls scope — one team, one documented system.
Do you work on compressed air distribution as well as machine-side pneumatics?
Yes — factory-wide compressed air distribution, filtration, drying and isolation is a common project. We can quote a new distribution ring, add a drop-leg to a new machine location, or troubleshoot pressure drop across an existing installation.
What about hose fabrication?
Made-to-measure hoses in SAE and DIN fittings, either fabricated in our workshop or on-site from our vans for urgent replacement. We stock the common fittings; specialist fittings are next-day where the supplier stocks them.
Do you handle oil disposal and site cleanliness?
Yes. Used hydraulic oil is disposed of via a licensed waste carrier with the paperwork provided to the client. Job site is left as we found it — cleaner, in most cases.
Got a project, a survey or a compliance deadline?
Talk to a working engineer — not a call centre. Every enquiry gets a same-day human reply.
